I used to read a lot. A wide variety too. In the pre-GPRS and smart phones and the swanky gadget days, I read to keep me going and learn about new things. And then, something happened. Its been two years and I must have bought max 5 books. This habit is now completely replaced by a whole new world of online distractions. Lately, I have been riddled with this strong feeling of not knowing enough, almost illiterate.
So, to get back quickly into the golden habits of reading, and being truly inspired by a brilliant post, I am going to read one book a week for this year. That makes it 51 (since
I slacked through the first week). Now this, I am sure is one kick ass New Year resolution.
The book for this week is “The Success Gurus: 17 lessons in greatness from the best minds in Business.” Reviews will be posted here too.
So, share with me. What are you reading today?

Dear Abhinaya
I have not read this book though I read a lot of various genre… this looks interesting but on the kind of book that you are talking I have loved reading Blink and the Tipping Point… In fact I can actually recommend you a great book from yester-years Ricoardo Semler’s Maverick. Its a lovely book… but I really enjoy reading books on philosophy, spirituality and some on the designs (being an interior professional) etc…But as some one said… If you have to read one book in life then you just read Gita, it will matter through out your life…
Just finished reading my friend Rahul Bhattacharya’s book “in the sly company of caring people” which one Hindu’s Literary first prize… its a lovely book about Guyana… and its culture which is more attuned o East India (Bhojpuri)…

Thats on my list too, with one addition, to read the daily newspaper in print. My book(s) for the week are (to complete reading) Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, and (again complete reading) The ruling caste, by David Gilmour. To begin is one thing… getting to the finish line is a total challenge… atleast for me!
Arvind, you must tell me how the book went. Steve Jobs is second on my list! I agree getting to the finish, especially non fiction is a challenge.
Deepak, that’s an amazing book you are reading. Its definitely worth owning a copy of it too!
Well, in retrospection, and after dusting by bookshelf, however I have now found that I have more than one book to complete! Which leads to another thought, why did I buy them, when I had books to complete. I will keep you posted about my book a week!…. at arvindnow.in
